The barrier, in operation during day is left open after 8pm until 8am and the notice board states it is free to camping cars during that time. \u00a0This is most odd as camping cars can come and go during the evening, stay all night for free providing they leave before 8am. \u00a0 If you arrive during the day, take a ticket and leave the following morning you wouldn&#8217;t have to pay. \u00a0 New free service point with toilets over in the car and bus park some 50 mtrs away. \u00a0Note the toilet block is closed during the winter months. \u00a0The old Aire is now a car only park with height barriers in place. \u00a0 The Aire is a little exposed to wind but there is plenty of room and offers excellent views of the old city and surrounding area.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.vennwood.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/07\/Carcassone.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-3240\" title=\"Carcassone\" src=\"http:\/\/www.vennwood.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/07\/Carcassone.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"450\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.vennwood.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/07\/Carcassone.jpg 800w, https:\/\/www.vennwood.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/07\/Carcassone-300x168.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Attractions Nearby:<\/strong> \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0The old walled city is well worth a visit and steeped in history with much of the ramparts and rooms fully restored. \u00a0Try the local cassolet dish of beans, duck and sausage. \u00a0The canal du Midi is 15 mins walk away. \u00a0The walled city thrives during the day but is very quiet at night however the floodlighting is well worth a look.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Cost per 24hrs: \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0\u20ac12 Services included (charge is for day use but is free overnight)<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>GPS Position: \u00a0North 43.204837 \u00a0East \u00a002.372837 New aire some 300 mtrs outside the old city walls. \u00a0Great view of walls lit up at night.
